Fluid Physicalities – TEARS 21 October

The Wellcome ISSF Fluid Physicalities seminar series continues this term.

The next session is on Friday 21st October and we will be joined by the psychoanalyst Dr Eyal Rozmarin, who will talk about ‘tears’.

The title of his paper is ‘Father’s Don’t Cry’ and responses will be given by Carolyn Burdett and Lynne Segal.

6pm, Keynes, Friday 21st. Fluid refreshments will be provided. All welcome.

In November the topic for discussion will be breastmilk, and in December, diarrhoea.

‘Fluid Physicalities’ seminar series second talk ‘Dracula’s Blood’, Friday 19 February 2016

The second talk in the Fluid Physicalities series is Friday 19 February at 6pm in the Keynes Library at School of Arts, Birkbeck.

Prof Anthony Bale will speak on ‘Dracula’s Blood.’ Prof David Feldman will respond.

New research seminar, ‘Fluid Physicalities’, 15 Jan 2016

Fluid Physicalities is a new research seminar convened at Birkbeck College by Anthony Bale and Esther Leslie, and funded by the Wellcome Trust. We will meet throughout 2016 and explore all manner of bodily fluids and their cultural, historical, and phenomenological aspects.

Our first meeting is next Friday, 15th January (6pm), when Isabel Davis will present a paper, ‘Waiting to wee: towards a history of pregnancy testing’, with responses from Lisa Baraitser and Sophie Jones. Liquid refreshments will, of course, be served.

Venue: Keynes Library, Birkbeck School of Arts, 43 Gordon Square, London WC1.
