Coastal Frontiers aims to examine the environmental and political history of the Bay of Bengal’s coastal rim over the past century. It is funded by a Starting Grant from the European Research Council and hosted at the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology, Birkbeck, University of London. The project’s website is here.

The project is led by Sunil Amrith, who is a historian of India and Southeast Asia. Debojyoti Das, an anthropologist of eastern India, is the project’s post-doctoral associate, and another contributor to this blog.
