Writer’s Hub – Fiction and Poetry submissions

Dear Research Students,

Welcome to (or welcome back to) Birkbeck, hope you’ve had a good summer. We’d like to introduce you to (or remind you about) the Birkbeck Writers’ Hub website.

The Birkbeck Writers’ Hub is an interactive web portal which aims to provide a platform for high-quality new writing, a forum for the exchange of ideas & a library of resources for writers. This site is managed by MACW Senior Lecturer, Julia Bell, and BACW 4th year student, Rebecca Rouillard, and maintained and edited by a rotating group of Birkbeck students, alumni and staff.

There are several ways to keep up with everything that is happening on the Writers’ Hub:

We accept submissions of fiction and poetry. You can read our submission guidelines on the website. We’d really like to be able to showcase Birkbeck students’ work so we’d would encourage you to submit at submissions@writershub.co.uk. Literary Agents regularly scout the site for new talent and several students have so far attracted agent representation as a consequence of being published on the Writers’ Hub.

We’d also love to hear from you if you are interested in blogging for us, writing book reviews, if you have an idea for a feature, or if you’d just like to help with the site generally. You can email Rebecca at editorial@writershub.co.uk.

We also run live reading events under the banner of ‘Hubbub’ – students can submit creative work and have an opportunity to read their work alongside invited guest authors and poets. Our next event is a Mechanics’ Institute Review 10 showcase on Monday the 14th of October at The Harrison. We’d love to see you there…
